New Video Series!!

I know! I haven’t written anything on here for a while. Those of you who read my blog have let me have it and I appreciate it. It keeps me honest:)

I’ve been very busy filming my new video series for GoldStar Video, a national martial arts video producer and rental company.

The video I finished is the first in a series of videos documenting my FusionFlow methods for remaining injury free for Martial Artists.

The first video includes my joint mobility routine, exercises to develop tendon power and to open the joints, yoga flows to open hips, shoulders and back, and a yoga flow with dumbbells for conditioning.

Just because it’s being marketed to martial artists doesn’t mean that everyone won’t benefit from it. The methods in the first volume are methods of wellness and longevity that I’ve distilled from 30 years of martial art and yoga practice. Future installments will have more specific exercises geared toward Mixed Martial Artists and those in the Reality-Based self-defense community, including LEOs and Military personnel.

The videos are supposed to be released sometime in June, but I’ll keep everyone posted. I’ll also have some new workouts up here soon, I promise!!

Holistic Health and Fitness

There are many systems of health out there now claiming to be Holistic. To be truly holistic, a system must truly attempt to encompass the entirety of a human being. This is no small task, and I believe that due to the complexity of the issue, most systems fall miserably short. Some systems are genuine attempts at addressing the whole of a being, others unfortunately are devised by their creators to take advantage of the need for holistic health by capitalizing on the naivate of the general public. At this time in History, I believe it is  necessary for each of us to take responsibility for our own health, so that we can truly assess our place in what’s going on around us.

The model I use in Fusion Flow, comes from the Taoist energy arts that I have practiced for most of my life. The Taoist systems of personal development are broken down into three categories that are arranged under the headings of   Jing/ Chi /and Shen. Roughly translated, Jing is everything that has to do with our physical body, ie muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, organs, blood etc. Chi, or bioenergy, has to do not only with our body’s energy and the nerves and meridians it passes through, but also with our emotional levels. Shen is our consciousness itself. Any practice or exercise we do has an impact on all three levels of this continuum, but the focus is usually in one main area.

For a system to be truly holisitic, I believe it has to address these areas of body, energy, and mind, and the influence each area has on the other two areas. I will be posting up mini workouts on this Blog that begin to address these three areas. They will start on the easy end of the spectrum, and will be adjuncts to whatever else you may practice. Good luck, and let me know what you think.
